Aims to make access to benefits more simple by helping people fill out applications in person or over the phone (includes help with filing for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, MSP, PA Prescription Assistance Program (PACE/PACENET), Medicare Extra Help, LIHEAP, Homestead Exemption, TANF, Property Tax/Rent Rebate and more.)

Compass is an online application for Philadelphians that allows individuals to check if they qualify for benefits, apply for benefits, and check their status throughout the process.
Eligibility: anyone can use the site to check whether they qualify for benefits

BenePhilly is a free service that offers benefits assistance over the phone or in person via appointment. This toll-free and confidential hotline provides one-on-one support to help Philadelphians enroll in benefits such as prescription drugs, utilities assistance, health insurance, food, property taxes, paying for college and disability benefits. BenePhilly counselors are there provide guidance throughout the application process.

A valid ID (driver’s license, social security card, Green card refugee records or employment authorization record) and proof of income and available bill statements must be brought to any in person appointments

Eligibility: Low income Philadelphians- typically must fall within 125% of poverty guidelines based on family size but individual may still be eligible if not within these limits
Cost: Free

 

We continue to monitor information on COVID-19/coronavirus. Our team is focused on offering quality services for all participants and ensuring extra preventive and precautionary measures based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. We are continuing to provide services remotely to young and expectant parents in the Philadelphia area while COVID-19 social distancing protocol is being observed. If you are a young parent between the ages of 16-29 and you need referrals or help finding items such as diaper and food assistance, SELPHI staff can work with you via phone calls, text messages or video calls to connect you with organizations that are offering these services.
